My Favourite Needle Turn Appliqué Tools

Everyone has been asking what my go to tools for Needle Turn Appliqué so I thought I’d write a quick blog post about it.

Here is my List.

Fine needles and fine thread make fine stitches. Milliner Needles in size 10 + Aurifil 80wt thread is the best combination for me. I match my thread colour to my appliqué shapes. I have a box of Aurifil Threads that are my go to’s and I always find a colour that suits my project. You’ll find this box of threads Here.

For a smaller set of Aurifil 80wt threads, this one is a great option as well. You’ll find this smaller box of threads Here.

Medium size sharp scissors.

Roxannes Glue Baste it. Yes I glue baste as I take my appliqués with me wherever I go - I don’t have to worry about pins falling out and losing placement.

Silver Gel Pen. Acid free and shows up on every fabric.

Template plastic and Permanent Marker.

And fabric of course! I use mostly 100% cotton. It works well.

Happy Appliquéing!
